Actions to take
DETROIT.... WE NEED TO RALLY TOGETHER NOW MORE THEN EVER!
Abandoned Houses
Detroit is undergoing historic changes as Mayor Bing plans out his Detroit Works project.
It is estimated that 12,000 abandoned houses are in Detroit.
Home Beautification
A lot of houses in Detroit are in need of repairs, owners of these houses need help to fix their properties. Groups of volunteers may be able to help willing owners.
Neighborhood Parks/Farming
Detroit has many empty lots, as well as many areas that will be made into empty lots as building are torn down.
Our thinking is "Why have an empty space? Turn these places into parks for the kids of the city or even a little growing space for crops"
Saving Our History

Detroit has many abandoned historical and beautiful homes. We must not let these houses become like the William Livingstone house pictured above. This house was 114 years old when demolished 9-15-2007 and was Albert Kahn’s first design. The owners left it to rot and fall apart.
Graffiti
Some say it's art, others say it's self expression, we say some is art but most is an eye sore.
Our plan is to paint over, wash and power wash all the graffiti in Detroit away the best we can. We need people, supplies and sponsors.
Drugs
Detroit has many problems with illegal drugs. Making, growing, selling and using. Detroiters need to know how to go about letting the police know without them feeling in danger. Detroit also needs stricter punishment for drug offenses. Most of all we need to address drug abuse like any disease and people need help more then anything.
Litter
Driving from a suburb and crossing into Detroit you can notice the vast amount of trash littering the sides of roads, in lots and all around. It needs to be taken care of. Our plan, Detroit has a lot of guys sitting around in jails doing nothing. They can put them (or volunteers) out there to pick up litter. This city only cleans up when a big event comes here like the Super Bowl and the Final Four. This clean up needs to happen ALL THE TIME.
LET'S MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
SEE TRASH... PICK IT UP.
Prostitution
A late night drive down Michigan Ave and I'm sure you'll see some "ladies" walking around or standing at the corners. Our plan, offer them a place to go and get help to get a job, education and a safe place to stay. Most hookers only sell themselves to feed a drug addiction.
Gangs
Detroit has a lot of gangs. Latin Kings, Cobras, Cash flow posse and others are known to be in Detroit. We can’t keep letting them think they run the streets. It’s sad that the DPD can't do more about them. There Gang squad unit is pretty much all they have to deal with this problem but we can help.
We know there are people in gangs that want out but are afraid for their lives, we can offer help to them to get them on the right path.
Also, family and the people that have to deal with gang members can also turn to us in the future for help.
Getting gang members an education, addiction help, shelter and protection
Homeless
There are alot of homeless in Detroit, most are able bodied men. We had a thought, why can't these people be helped while helping their city? We want to start a program that will help feed, cloth, clean them up, put them somewhere safe and help them get back on their feet. But not for free, they must work for it. Cleaning up graffiti, picking up trash off the street, painting ect. It helps solve two problems. We can convert an old unused building in the downtown area to give them a home. And a bus can take them to their stop where they do the work. In the program they can choose to continue their education, learn a trade and get back into the world.
Crime
Detroit needs a better way of protecting its neighborhoods. Enforcing Neighborhood watch programs and starting ones where there are none seems the best way of making sure us, our friends and our loved ones are safe. A meeting between citizens should happen monthly, talking about concerns. A phone number will also be available as well as 24 hour main office. Each side of the city should have its own watch office with leaders over those branches. Each side holds its own meetings. Everything should be reported to the Main office, as well as the DPD.
